UI DESIGN

Below you will find my most recent UI Mockups made  specifically for my portfolio.

As a big fan of shooters, I wanted to try my hand at an interface that would fit an Overwatch-style game.

OVERVIEW

SHOOTER MOCKUPS

Disclaimer: All the UI and some additional VFX in these screens were made by me. All Characters, 3D models and Concept Art used are owned by Blizzard and Teo Yong Jin.

MY PROCESS

When designing UI, I like to add a lot of character into it. I typically start these mockups  by researching and defining who the main character is or what the core pillars of the game are. This way, I know what needs the most attention and can figure out the best way to make these aspects enjoyable.
In the case of the mockups above, I have taken inspiration from the character (made by Teo Yong Jin) on the final screen and applied the rounded yet angular aesthetic and bright colour palette to a modern, tech-like interface.

TACTICIAN'S WAR

Tactician's War was a Strategy Board game  made by one of my friends. Above are some examples of the card concepts I made for him. The game is centered around how different fighters would interact with others on a battlefield (expressed through character class and character back stories).

When designing the characters I put a lot of their gameplay influence into the visuals.
As for the UI/ Card Layout, I tried to make sure all the values and costs were as clear as possible to read knowing that there is a ton of character description and stats all in one place.

The following 2 titles are games that I had worked on back in 2016. Clicking on them will provide a more in-depth perspective of my role as a UI Designer and Animator on these projects.
